Earth Hour 2015
Posted: Fri 27 Mar 2015 | Children
For those of you who don't know, the World Wildlife Fund started Earth Hour in 2007 in Australia asking people to turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. It has since been a global phenomenon, with more and more people turning of their lights each year. It is taking place on the 28th of March 8:30-9:30 we've got lots of ideas for what you could do: eat a candlelit dinner, tell ghost stories, board games and go outside for some stargazing. We hope you will take part in this activity and make our world a better place. Because even our school are taking part in it!
The reason we have earth hour is because our world is suffering and only we can do anything about it. This is because of climate change, that's why we need to stop it and potentially save earth and many of its landmarks: the Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon, the Antarctic and much more. So on the 28 th make sure you turn your lights off and have some fun!
At Highfield we are also helping the environment by doing a school litter pick. This is where each year will get a area in our school which they have to make litter-free. That's all for this week I hope you all will help to make our planet a better place. BYE !!!Go Back
